Jeffreys stuff[edit]

Doesn't most of the detail about Judge Jeffreys and the Bloody Assizes belong in the articles about those topics, not here? Even the existing text says it is unlikely that Jeffeys tried any cases here and that there is no evidence of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.23.201.146 (talk) 06:17, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The paragraph about the Bloody Assizes doesn't belong here, especially given dubious link between Jeffreys and the inn. MonmouthMan (talk) 20:18, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oldest pub in Wales[edit]

Although it is advertised as the oldest inn in Wales, the current building only dates back to the mid to late 17th century. [1] MonmouthMan (talk) 19:07, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

poor quality sources[edit]

Only the BBC news website is a reliable source. Regarding the others, the site at SkirridMountainInn.co.uk may appear at first sight to be run by the management, but it is revealed at http://www.skirridmountaininn.co.uk/contact/ that it is "a tribute website" and not affiliated with them. As such it is not a useful primary source either. --Money money tickle parsnip (talk) 13:17, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name.[edit]

The name on the front of the pub (also visible in the photo) is ‘The Skirrid Inn’. Is the ‘Skirrid Mountain Inn’ its real name, or a localism? Obscurasky (talk) 09:18, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's definitely just The Skirrid Inn, the only source calling it the 'The Skirrid Mountain Inn' seems to be the weird "tribute" website, with other sources calling it that linking back to that website. The article should be moved and renamed, I will do it if no one offers any objection soon. Tyrroi (talk) 21:19, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please do it - I've never heard anyone refer to it as the Skirrid Mountain Inn so it's certainly not the name by which it is commonly known! Geopersona (talk) 06:48, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done.
