amazon.com has Nora O'Connor listed as a member as well in their list of albums by New Pornographers members in a list posted this year that was part of A.C. Newman's album recommendations, so I guess she's still considered a band member. Elocina 00:22, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Supergroup[edit]

Carl objected to this term in the early days of the band because none of them were known outside of Canada before the TNPs, but in recent years Neko Case and Dan Bejar have become indie superstars in their own right, so the context that this quote was made in has changed significantly.BigRockFan (talk) 23:36, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kathryn Calder[edit]

If Kathryn Calder is just singing with the NPs on tour as a replacement for Neko Case, but hasn't be on any of the NP albums, should she be listed as a band member?

Also, I think this article should mention the NPs were originally intended to be a side project (according to an article I found on eMusic), however, they continued recording due to the sucess of Mass Romantic. From what I've heard on NPR, NP members like Neko Case and Dan Bejar (Destroyer) are now less involved in the band, only contributing a few songs per album.

Kathryn Calder not only tours with them, but will be singing/playing on their forthcoming release. This is according to a Winnipeg Sun article written by David Schmeichel dated 2006. Ms. Calder plays a larger role on the new Together album, she is lead vocalist on at least one track. I would like to change first sentence of History section to reflect that she also shares lead vocalist duties[ http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14195-together/]. Thoughts? Broken Social Scene[edit]

Interesting to note, TNB is listed as a Canadian Indie Supergroup like Broken Social Scene. Perhaps a new article is in order?

Anonymous Deletion Requests[edit]

User:209.217.110.91 has been tagging a number of obviously notable music pages for speedy deletion, despite their notability being easily assessed with a copy of the WP:MUSIC guidelines and a web browser open to google. The New Pornographers, John Collins (Canadian musician), Nardwuar the Human Serviette have all been tagged as being vanity pages or otherwise not notable. The Evaporators, a band in which both John (of The New Pornographers) and Nardwuar (National TV and Radio personality) play has also been submitted for deletion, and not a single vote to delete has been recieved on that. This may have some connection to User:Arthur Ellis or someone connected to Warren_Kinsella vandalism. -- Xinit 14:57, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Layout[edit]

Do we need to have the band members listed twice? I appreciate that the second time acts to show their links to other bands, but surely the two can be assimilated into one list. Tomkeene

Seconded. My theory is that Dan Bejar suggested the name, given that it's referenced in one of his Destroyer songs, "City of Daughters," which predated Mass Romantic. Another possible influence[edit]

Searching for a better free photo[edit]

Is there a free/libre photo that shows as many members of the band as clearly as the current promotional photo? It would be nice to get the promo photo replaced with a good, libre photo.

Trivia?[edit]

According to this article their song "Electric Version" will be in the game Rock Band. Should that be noted on the page, perhaps in a trivia section? It's just kind of tacked onto the end of the Electric Version page. McFlynnTHM 13:41, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SL Tribune Editorial[edit]

I am not quite sure it is quite newsworthy enough to post in the article, but I would feel remiss if I did not at least submit this for consideration.

The Salt Lake Tribune just ran an editorial [8] on their website written by a Utahn concerned about the New Pornographers. I really can't even describe it; it has to be read to believed. The article created a flood of some of the most entertaining derision I have seen since Bristol Palin decided to become a spokesperson for abstinence. Enjoy.
