Movie Poster Image

This article had no poster image, so I added one. Unfortunately, the version of the original movie poster I retrieved from impawards.com is not the best quality. It's okay, but there are visible creases and a ratings tag. If someone could find a better version of this image I would appreciate the help. Reimelt 20:05, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Novel

Why don't we have a page for the novel? I mean, the movie's nice, but the novel is utter brilliance (in my opinion, anyway).

Location

It says here that the town of Milagro is fictional. Although I never visited, I can tell you that on I-40 in New Mexico -- between Santa Rosa and Clines Corners -- there is an exit sign that says Milagro. Does anyone know if this sign was perhaps put up after the movie?

• The movie was filmed in Truchas, NM, in a whole other part of the State from Santa Rosa and Clines Corners. The book is clearly set somewhere in [Northern New Mexico], close to Taos, and the town described therein is completely fictional. Murcielago 23:13, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Not Fictional

An extremely important point regarding a very real event that is strikingly similar to the movie has not been mentioned at all and should be. In fact, I think it should be one of the points of the article regarding the actual historical background of the movie. In 1967 in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, at the Rio Arriba County county seat of Tierra Amarilla near the town of Trucha where the movie was filmed, there was a local revolt over Hispanic property rights where the New Mexico National Guard, local police, and New Mexico State Police were called in and several people were shot and wounded and hostages taken.
