Legacy[edit]

Not only the title inspired the movie Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder, the story itself has a lot of details taken directly from John Byrne´s comics. The kryptonian birth chambers, clark journey around the world saving people and the depiction of his super powers a all inspired by THE MAN OF STEEL. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.192.6.62 (talk) 20:58, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This was also Byrne's way to emphasize the Kents being chosen caretakers rather than them being a random couple who finds a baby in a rocket. The idea was not used because DC wanted Kal-El to be sent to Earth alone, but the idea of them being chosen was explored later in the television series, Smallville and in the novel Superman: Last Son of Krypton.[21]
