Missing Plot[edit]

Where's the plot? There's a plot introduction but no plot description. I read this book many years ago so I only remember vaguely what it's about. Sluggoster (talk) 20:30, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From sketchy memory, the following spoiler: Allen Purcell is a successful, ostensibly regime-compliant advertising executive. At first, amnesia keeps him from realizing that he was the one who decapitated the statue of Major Streiter, placed the head in the Major's heroically outstretched hand, and bent a leg of the plastic statue to appear as if the Major was about to drop-kick his own head. Eventually the ruling regime starts closing in on him. He uses his advertising connections to launch a publicity campaign calling for a return to one of the Major's early policies, "active assimilation." Only after public opinion overwhelmingly favors active assimilation does he reveal recipes showing that it was a method of relieving a post-war protein shortage by eating the enemy. __ Just plain Bill (talk) 15:00, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
