The articles on Karl Briullov and The Last Days of Pompeii were apparently plgiarized from [1]. Many changes are required. -Ghirlandajo 09:25, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Karl Brullov - The Last Day of Pompeii - Google Art Project.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on October 25, 2015. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2015-10-25. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. Thanks! — Chris Woodrich (talk) 23:48, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Last Day of Pompeii
The Last Day of Pompeii is an oil painting on canvas completed by the Russian artist Karl Bryullov between 1830 and 1833. The painting is based on sketches the artist completed in 1828 while visiting Pompeii, a city destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. It is now held in the State Russian Museum.Painting: Karl Bryullov

Interwiki links[edit]

Apologies for the edit conflicts with my recent edits. I thought the article had stabilised enough for me to contribute. If I'd known a flurry of edits was coming I'd have gone elsewhere and come back later.

Can someone please explain the problem with the three interwiki links that have been removed. They provide links to articles in other languages on three of the notable paintings mentioned in this article. Some are very good - the Russian article on Moses and the Brazen Serpent is a featured article!

Some readers will be able to understand the languages enough to read the articles, or at least machine translate them, and someone might be encouraged to create articles here.

Thanks for your efforts but I removed them because they just redirect to the English Wikipedia. Do you want to try again? Not sure what the correct wikicode is. The other option would be to redlink them on the English Wikipedia in which case someone might create them. Philafrenzy (talk) 11:17, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please can you confirm what you see above in say the first bullet point. I am using the {{ill}} template (shorthand for {{Interlanguage link}}). You should see a blue link to Nicolas Poussin then a redlink to The Plague at Ashdod because it has not yet been written in English yet. And then in brackets a link to an article on the Italian wikipedia, it:Peste di Azoth like this: (it).
My mistake, I have reinstated them. Thank you. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:38, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Thanks. Wondered if there might be some sort of problem I was not seeing. The {{ill}} template is useful replacement for a redlink where there is a notable topic with an article in another language. You just have to look out for the little link in brackets.
