I'm not quite sure how to edit, it's been a long time since I've done so on Wikipedia.

During the Raleigh Show, the giant rotating LED block did not have the sides constructed, also, there were changes to the set list (presumably because of the evacuation). She did not perform the first part of Crazy in Love (the 50 Shades of Gray remix), and 7/11, Single Ladies, and Sweet Dreams were cut entirely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cebeavers (talkcontribs) 01:14, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

European opening acts[edit]

Hi @F1lover22: – Your edits whilst partly sourced are incorrect, due to a mistake in the article (a similar mistake was made in the article claiming DJ Khaled was opening in Cardiff). Chole x Halle did not open until Glasgow. You can see from their official twitter accounts what shows they have announced they are opening: https://twitter.com/chloeandhalle/status/751499146784346112

This is further proven by the fact they tweeted "our first show is tonight 😝🤘🏽 so excited!! God is awesome #Glasgow #FormationWorldTour": https://twitter.com/chloeandhalle/status/750971822590402560 and "can't believe we just performed our 1st european show here !!" on July 7, 2016, the date of the Glasgow show of the tour: https://twitter.com/chloeandhalle/status/751144603223334913

The show in Manchester was opened by DJ Magnum who was joined on stage by local Manchester act Bipolar Sunshine:

I would ask given the evidence posted above, you please stop adding Chloe x Halle to Manchester as they clearly did not open, and you stop removing Chloe x Halle and Ingrid from the Glasgow – Barcelona opening acts, as both artists have tweeted the shows they will be opening, which has been sourced. Unlike what you said in an edit summary, opening acts can and are often put in the table before the show has commenced. If you can provide a source showing real evidence that Chloe x Halle opened in Manchester (maybe a review following the show) then maybe it would be different, but the source provided was posted before the show with no foundation. I'm interested to see the pictures you were speaking of.

Thanks ThirdWard (talk) 23:37, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @ThirdWard: even though two sources are claiming Chloe X Halle to be support, after having a quick look on Twitter it looks as though it was actually DJ Magnum:
As for the addition of future support acts, in specific relation to this page, the acts have not been added until post-show. Therefore I think it should follow that Chloe X Halle and ingrid should only be added up to and including the gig in Croke Park. There is nothing to gain from the addition of the support acts before the show has taken place.
I am not wanting to engage in anymore 'edit warring' so I think it should be left that DJ Magnum is the support act in Manchester, Chloe X Halle and Ingrid performed in Dublin and Glasgow and that as each show takes place, the act is added to the table. If you have any objections I'd be happy to listen.
Thanks --F1lover22 (talk) 23:48, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@F1lover22: That is not strictly true, as DJ Khaled was added to the table for all of his dates before the tour began as there was a source that posted all of the dates. This is a similar situation to the now Chloe x Halle and Ingrid. Whilst I agree there is nothing to gain, there is really nothing to lose. It stops the need for edits every night of the show, as there is a source that clearly states they will be performing in these cities. DJ Magnum was being added nightly due to the fact that there was never an official announcement of an opening act during his shows, it just turned out to be him night after night. ThirdWard (talk) 23:54, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@ThirdWard: It's all cool with me and if any more acts perform they can just be added or removed from the table if it arises. --F1lover22 (talk) 23:59, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Formation Tour Philippines[edit]

In one of the TV shows in the Philippines, it was mentioned that Beyonce is going to perform at the Philippine Arena with 55,000 capacity around November of this year. But i cant find any source that say so. It might be legit because the host is an actress-concert producer. If i find a reliable source, i will post it here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.208.139.223 (talk) 09:10, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article title[edit]

All searches I have done for the tour does not show that it meets criteria 2 of WP:THE. It is not capitalized in running text. Also, most of the time the article is not even included. Malayy (talk) 22:52, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Every time the tours title is used in the article, the "The" is capitalised. The tours official name is "The Formation World Tour", not the "Formation World Tour" (as seen on Beyoncé's official website, Live Nation Ticket Website and Live Nation Press Release, and PR Newswire). All official sources have always referred to the tour as "The Formation World Tour", along with the fact that whenever the title is mentioned in the article it is capitalised, it clearly does not fail criteria 2 of WP:THE. This is also on top of the fact that the article has been heavily edited and passed a GA review in the over a years history of the article, with no WP:THE issue. ThirdWard (talk) 21:01, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You are wrong, it is not "every time". Your examples are flawed. The official site you posted does not fit your own criteria. It includes the article "the" as stylization but the site's title does not. The Live Nation site and PR Newswire article also both using the stylized title too, as seen in all caps. Also, your inclusion of the fact that it has already been heavily edited and passed GA is an incredibly foolish thing to post. While one would expect an error like that to be dealt with beforehand, that is absolutely no indication of lack of errors and misinterpretation. Malayy (talk) 10:29, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Search for the articles title in the article (seriously, ctrl/commad + f + "the formation world tour", every time it is used, "the" is capitalized, both at the start of and in the middle of sentences? The official sites domain name does not include "the", but the official poster and header within the official site does. The other official sources/press releases stylize it in all caps and/or bold, but if "the" was not in the official tours title, why would it be stylized along with "Formation World Tour", and not simply stylize those last 3 words? I don't think you can truly say to me you believe the tours official title is "Formation World Tour", and "The" has just been added on by editors throughout this process. It is the official title and it is capitalized in running text throughout this article every time it is stated in full. Certain third party reviewers can stylize whatever they want, however they want, but that simply doesn't diminish the fact that the "The" should be capitalized. Please refer to the criteria stated on WP:THE:
"These conditions are sometimes met if the Wikipedia article name is: the title of a work or publication"
, which in this instance is absolutely the case. Also note how on Beyoncé's official website on the collective tours page, when looking at the 3 tours included, the On the Run Tour does not contain a "The" in the title, hence it not being included in the articles title, but both this tour, and The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, do, hence why they do include "The" in the title. Also, saying my arguments to this point are "foolish" is both abrasive and unnecessary... Thanks, ThirdWard (talk) 22:07, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I was not speaking of all your arguments but rather responding to a particular point you made, which was in fact foolish. I was not being "abrasive and unnecessary". You mentioned an irrelevant point to the discussion. Somewhat related to that same issue, you are mentioning the fact that this article itself includes "The" as if that means anything. Again, that does not mean that is not incorrect. The same way this article passing GA does not imply perfection. Further, your arguments here basically ignore the fact that "The" is part of the stylized title. Every direct source is obviously going to include it then. Again, the tour's title is not capitalized in running text as I have proven above. Finally, you mentioned "the title of a work or publication". Since when is a tour a work? Of course The Old Man and the Sea should include it as it is capitalized in running text whereas you cannot say the same for this tour. Malayy (talk) 23:49, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

On the policy page I linked earlier (WP:UCRN) it says that google web search results can also be used to help determine which name to go with, using certain limitations. I tried this experiment myself. Per the policy, I first searched Google Books, then Google News, and last Google Search (the main one). All the following search terms will be verbatim and the results are below.
  • Google Books
    • "The Formation World Tour" -wikipedia—"About 520 results (0.35 seconds)"
    • "Formation World Tour" -wikipedia—"About 612 results (0.59 seconds)"
  • Google News (starting from the "search" page)
    • "The Formation World Tour" -wikipedia—"About 4,460 results (0.51 seconds)"
    • "Formation World Tour" -wikipedia—"About 10,800 results (0.38 seconds)"
  • Google Search
    • "The Formation World Tour" -wikipedia—"About 471,000 results (0.43 seconds)"
    • "Formation World Tour" -wikipedia—"About 783,000 results (0.44 seconds)"
Those are the reasons I support this move. I helpdןǝɥ I 16:03, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The tours title is quite literally "The Formation World Tour", as seen on Beyoncé's official website, press releases (Note here how every time the tours name is mentioned, the entire name is bolded, and "The" is included in this) and official poster (Note not a single image of the poster found on Google images contains an absence of the word "The"). A concert tour is a work in my opinion, and I have seen no policy or consensus claiming otherwise, and the works title containing "The" is within the criteria of WP:THE to have it in the articles title. Furthermore, this is not a WP:COMMONNAME issue, as posted by the user above. This is the same reason The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour contains "The" in the title, as again, it is the official works title, despite "Mrs. Carter Show World Tour" providing much more search results from various sources. The official tour poster used in this article uses "The" in the image, again confirming the tours official name contains "The" in it. This is not just a stylization, as tours like the On the Run Tour (Beyoncé and Jay-Z) do not contain "The" in the tours official poster (Again note how in this instance NO official posters found on Google images contain the word "The"), or in official sources such as Beyoncé's website or press releases. I would further encourage others to look at "Category:2016 concert tours" in which this tour falls under, and notice the various tours containing "The" in the title also have the word "The" in their official websites and posters found on the article; The 7/27 Tour, The Book of Souls World Tour, The Untouchable Tour and The Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, are just a small amount of examples from this category. For that reason I oppose this move, as again, it seems ridiculous to remove the word "The" from the articles title, when it passes the criteria clearly stating "The" is to be used if it is in the works title, with no evidence provided of a concert tour not being a work. ThirdWard (talk) 17:17, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Additional comments - Since posting my opposition I read the links to a tour not being listed within "major works". If that is the criteria and be all and end all for what a work is considered as then that is what it is. In regards to Wikipedia articles being named after what they are most commonly known, I do not think "The" is a fair example here, as it can easily be skewed in search results. It is not as accurate as a "Beyoncé Knowles" or "Beyoncé" argument. With all of this considered I still strongly oppose the move, as it seems to be the case of all concert tour articles to include the word "The" in the title of the article if it is in the official name of the tour, and to exclude it if it is not, and this move would be setting a precedent to move a large amount of existing tour articles with "The" in the title because of google books results etc. for no apparent reason. ThirdWard (talk) 17:30, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: As far as I know, there is no "end all, be all" when it comes to Wikipedia (besides using citations, of course). The policies that I linked are my interpretation of Wikipedia precedents. They aren't laws, and every case is different. The consensus formed in this discussion will be the deciding factor on this matter. All opinions are valid, in my opinion. I helpdןǝɥ I 19:18, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. When primary sources are discarded as they should be, there is no justification for keeping the The. I note that this is reverting the bold move 20:28, 13 July 2017‎ ThirdWard (talk | contribs | block)‎ . . (55 bytes) (+55)‎ . . (ThirdWard moved page Formation World Tour to The Formation World Tour over redirect: Yes, it absolutely is capitalized in running text. See the entire article, and the majority of sources used.
