There is a link at the bottom of the page to awards - can someone add the *real* awards the novel has won to the awards section? Also I know it was nominated as one of Time's list of the 100 Greatest Novels since 1926

Recent edits[edit]

St. Jude is in Kansas? Northeast Kansas? It has been a while since I read the book, but I don't think the state is ever named, is it? Also, the phrase "one last Christmas" (the title of a section of the novel) was modified to "one last Christmas together" in quotation marks. If this is a direct quotation from the novel, it should be cited; if not, the quotation marks should be removed. --ShelfSkewed Talk 14:38, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, that's what happens when you "read" audiobooks. I'm fairly sure about the direct quote, much less so (now) about Kansas. They're hardly important even if they are correct, so I've undone them. Thanks, --jnestorius^(talk) 08:14, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your mind isn't completely playing tricks on you. I was skimming through the novel, and Alfred is from Kansas and attended the University of Kansas. But there's also a passage in which Alfred, in St. Jude at the time, imagines retiring to "Kansas or Nebraska", which suggests that that's not where he is at the moment. (St. Jude, by the way, is a stand-in for St. Louis, Missouri, and Webster Groves, the St. Louis suburb where Franzen grew up.) It's quite a good essay, but unfortunately a lot of it falls into original research, which is not allowed at Wikipedia. State of Disrepair[edit]

I am incredibly depressed by the quality of the article we have, the fact no wikiproject has taken the time to rate this as important, and just the fact that the talk page is labelled to the article for [The Corrections (Band)].
