I rated this article a B due to its well written summary of what is a very incoherent short story, as well as its explanation of the themes and motifs present. I would have rated it higher but felt it inappropriate to unilaterally dub it a "Good Article," although I did not feel any content to be lacking or any area deserving of improvement. --Sludge 02:49, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why one would term this a "very incoherent short story" is mystifying to me--The story, while fantastic, is completely clear in every regard. What the story actually means in open to a thousand interpretations, but this should not be confused with narrative incoherence.Gilbertine goldmark (talk) 15:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Incoherent"? True, the tale, like most of Borges' prose, is rendered with sybilline concision, but it is in no way incoherent. JLB is challenging: spelling things out explicitly isn't his game. He makes you dig. Would that there were more like him! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.166.49.17 (talk) 20:45, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
