Jonathan Ross non-appearance[edit]

Someones put that its Ross's first year not appearing, most probably due to the Phone Calls hoaxs..it's also Rob Brydons first year not doing it so I don't think the phone calls can be brought into it..

It is likely to be the case that Ross is not appearing because of the reaction to the prank call he was involved in (he didn't present this year's British Comedy Awards for that reason), and that Brydon isn't on for another reason entirely. Can anyone can confirm Ross' reason or tell us why Brydon didn't appear? F W Nietzsche (talk) 22:46, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

what was the question they got the 22 points for? dreamcatcher23 (talk) 02:32, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Russell Brand and Noel Fielding won with 39 points thanks to the 22 points they got for one question. Jonathan and Cat got 38 while David and Rob came last with 37.

David and Rob pretended to take the quiz rather seriously and behaved as though highly annoyed when Jimmy Carr awarded 22 points to Russell and Noel, feeling that they had not been trying and did not deserve to win. After repeated insulting jokes about his swim across the channel, David was pushed to breaking point and jokingly lashed out at Jonathan Ross, saying he was overpaid and fat, and Russell Brand, suggesting that he spread sexually transmitted diseases. It was clear that they were joking throughout the program. this was originally on the page: I edited it to to make it less objective, because it seemed like it was written by a strong Walliams fan! I changed it to: Russell Brand and Noel Fielding won with 39 points, after receiving 22 points for answering one question correctly. Jonathan and Cat got 38 while David and Rob came last with 37.

David and Rob appeared to take the quiz rather seriously and behaved as though highly annoyed when Jimmy Carr awarded 22 points to Russell and Noel, feeling that they had not been trying and did not deserve to win. After repeated jibes from the other contestants about his swim across the channel, David was pushed to breaking point and lashed out at Jonathan Ross, saying he was overpaid and fat, and Russell Brand, suggesting that he spread sexually transmitted diseases. He commented that he refused to play any longer because 'it's [the quiz] madness now'. Presenter Jimmy Carr then commented that Walliams appeared to be having a showbiz hissy fit.

Quotes[edit]

Although it isn't big right now, the "Quotes" section may get a little too big. Should we consider moving them to WikiQuote, and just keep a few of the best here? If so, which ones should we move/keep? (--User:King Wagga) I agree - it is totally over the top for a show of this little note. Richardbates2002 12:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Big fat quiz 2006.JPG[edit]

Image:Big fat quiz 2006.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:02, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guests for BFQOTY 2008[edit]

I attended the recording of this year's show on the 8th December, and while I don't wish to make any changes to the main page before the show's broadcast, I can let you know who the guests are in case anyone more adept at Wiki-editing wants to make a placeholder! The guests are as follows:

- Dara O'Briain and Davina McCall
- Sean Lock and James Corden
- Michael McIntyre and Claudia Winkleman Amanda Prefect (talk) 02:19, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why was yesterday's show, whose title means it is a quiz about the events of 2008 (the whole year), made over three weeks before this year ends? F W Nietzsche (talk) 00:17, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Schedule BFQOTY 2013[edit]

At this point, the claim that it's going to be on Dec. 26 at 9pm isn't supported by http://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/guide/bbc/london/20131226DoctorCaligari (talk) 22:50, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Page Name[edit]

Given that there are now so many episodes of BFQ which are not year-end reviews - between the Anniversaries, the Everythings and the Decades - should the page just be titled "The Big Fat Quiz?" I wasn't sure if there is some protocol for when to make such a change.

I also set a redirect for "The Big Fat Quiz of Everything" to go to this page, since it seemed possible that someone who discovers the Everythings would not know about the main yearly version (obviously not most people, but those who aren't regular UK TV watchers). Undoing revision implying it's ending[edit]

An anonymous user changed the page's lead to imply BFQ's existence is in the past tense and added an "end date" in the infobox, which (per Template:Infobox_television) is only appropriate for a show that hasn't aired an episode in over a year and to avoid shows being listed as active in perpetuity when they weren't officially cancelled but also haven't been renewed for an extended period of time. Given it's primarily an annual event, I'd argue BFQ would need to have no new episodes announced for at least 18 months before we would start making changes to the templates and text to imply it's over.

When I saw this edit had been done, I did a hunt for any indications that 2023 was intended to be the last BFQ (of the year or otherwise), or other evidence that the show has been announced as ending. I couldn't find any information to that effect. If there are resources saying it has a planned end date, a properly cited note should be added to the lead, explaining that. Without a reliable resource confirming it's ended, please do not changed the page to imply the show is ending, without editor consensus on the Talk page.
