Cast Names[edit]

Well, we have the first country, which Phil named at the live start, but no official source for it. Still waiting on them to release the rest of the cast. Perhaps tomorrow since they were out by this point after the previous live starts. Mark RaceFan (talk) 04:21, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Mark RaceFan If there's no official source for it than it shouldn't be on Wikipedia.74thClarkBarHG (talk) 04:53, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Elise tweeted it... Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 14:27, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Sportsfan 1234 Do you have an actual source? 74thClarkBarHG (talk) 20:58, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Huh. Was expecting to have a press release to source to of the entire cast's names (and maybe first country) out today, a la the previous open starting lines. Guess CBS isn't swinging that way this time. Ah well, we'll just have to wait for pre-airing press, then Mark RaceFan (talk) 05:31, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We have some cast members listed here: https://hiddenremote.com/2017/10/15/amazing-race-season-30-cast-spoilers-joey-chestnut-shawn-marion-alexander-rossi-reportedly-competing-tar/ Should we use it as a credible source? Michaelmarill (talk) 03:19, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Michaelmarill[reply]

@Michaelmarill No we shouldn't. From reading the article it doesn't look like it is a credible source. 74thClarkBarHG (talk) 04:24, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Netherlands[edit]

The Netherlands probably shouldn't be included as a destination for Leg 2. Yes, they flown there, then took a train to Antwerp, but the clue specifically said "Travel to Antwerp, Belgium", not Amsterdam. I do want to point out that an article from TV Guide, http://www.tvguide.com/news/the-amazing-race-30-cast/, explicitly states that TAR30 is traveling between 10 countries, so that means one of the 11 countries listed as destinations on this article (the US, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Morocco, France, Bahrain, the Czech Republic, China, Thailand, and Zimbabwe) is incorrect. Sinjoh2015 (talk) 16:12, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The clue specifically said you must fly to Amsterdam first and then use a train to Antwerp... Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:18, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The clue did not, it says that they have reserved tickets on a flight to Amsterdam. The recap CBS published also says they have reserved tickets: http://www.cbs.com/shows/amazing_race/episodes/217081/. If this is not the case, why isn't Austria on TAR20 not included as a leg destination? And again, I want to point out that TV Guide published an article, http://www.tvguide.com/news/the-amazing-race-30-cast/, stating that 10 countries would be covered over the race, not 11. Sinjoh2015 (talk) 17:12, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On The Amazing Race 3, Spain is listed on Leg 5 and counted as one of the 12 countries even though no task was held there. It seems that there are inconsistencies in how such countries are listed or counted. Can someone clarify or resolve this? Penguin407 (talk) 04:11, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Teams were explicitly told to drive from Coba de Roca, Portugal to Algeciras, Spain, where they needed to take a ferry to Morocco. Sinjoh2015 (talk) 14:01, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and then on TAR20, teams were explicitly told to take a train from Turin, Italy to Ehrwald, Austria before driving to Germany. Also, it is worth mentioning that TAR19 Leg 11 has the Netherlands as an intermediate destination. So I am curious as to why prominence is given to TAR3 Spain and TAR19 Netherlands but not TAR20 Austria. Penguin407 (talk) 23:48, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Again, the clue for Leg 5 on TAR3 after the Detour explicitly said to drive themselves to Spain, then take a ferry to Morocco. It's also worth noting that Phil says they raced through 13 countries during the season (even if you split the UK into England and Scotland, Spain would account for #13). In TAR19, Phil denotes that teams had to take a train to Amsterdam before heading to Panama. Phil also says that teams raced through 10 countries, meaning the Netherlands was included in this count. Austria, is weird I admit. Weirdly, at the end of the season, Phil states TAR20 went though nine countries, not ten. Austria seems the likely candidate to not be counted, given that teams only went through via train, only to go to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is very close to the German-Austrian border compared to Coba da Roca and Algeciras. Sinjoh2015 (talk) 03:08, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I get your point. If we follow the show's official count, then it makes sense. Back to TAR30, you are probably right that the Netherlands is not one of the 10 countries. If this is true, should we consider removing the Netherlands from the Leg 2 section title, as well as from the count here (in the same way we left out TAR20 Austria)? Penguin407 (talk) 07:40, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I think so, since 10 countries are already sourced and listed for the season. Sinjoh2015 (talk) 11:51, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since the clue mandated air travel to Amsterdam, The Netherlands followed by rail travel to Antwerp, Belgium, the former must be included as a destination. It does not matter how many tasks were involved in The Netherlands.OfficerAPC (talk) 16:29, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I hate to bring this up again, but after rewatching the episode a third time, the direct quote about the flight was "due to limited availability, we have reservations for you from Reykjavík to Amsterdam." This is not the first time TAR has given teams reservations due to limited availability, TAR17 Leg 4 gave teams tickets from Accra to Kiruna via Frankfurt (and all teams took this flight, yet the leg remains listed as Ghana → Sweden) and TAR25 Leg 9, where teams were given tickets to Paris from Valletta and had to make connections to Singapore from there (should they use them). The only time that TAR gave tickets for an explicitly mandatory flight was on TAR18 Leg 4 from Tokyo to Kunming. It was not stated that these tickets were a mandatory flight, and with the wording from their clue, the situation seems similar to TAR17 where everyone simply took the same flight. Sinjoh2015 (talk) 18:47, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

IN that case I think The Netherlands should be removed, and a note can be made about the limited availability (which I think was a ruse to get teams to use the ultra cheap Wow Air). Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 04:33, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Team Yale[edit]

should we put at how in Leg 2 Team Yale was the 3rd to the Head to Head but after losing 6 in a row was dropped to 8th? the other two legs they were in the top 3 and would have been had it not been for bad luck at the head to head. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Razgriz920 (talkcontribs) 18:26, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Team Placements for Leg 7[edit]

Leg 7 featured a scrambling Partner Swap, a mix-up twist that made the ending very interesting. Once teams reunited with their original partners, they were told to immediately continue racing. However, the placements were not mentioned; but Leg 1 required the use of an instant replay to decide two of the placements by a literal footrace. Upon rewatching the episode, two footraces took place and provided sufficient information to break the tie, while Phil stated Kristi & Jen arrived and spared from elimination. Here are the team placements based on this information.

  1. Alex & Conor
  2. Lucas & Brittany
  3. Eric & Daniel
  4. Henry & Evan
  5. Cody & Jessica
  6. Kristi & Jen

As with all legs without mandatory rest at the Pit Stop, no prize was available for the team that arrived first. OfficerAPC (talk) 15:55, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cannot agree with you. Your understand maybe right, but it makes people confused. At least I cannot understand your modification before I read your talk here. Since you post your finding here instead of the main page as a note, I guess you also have the feeling that it is not proper to write "based on my review of the tape..." in the main article. Final Task = Roadblock?[edit]

I do not believe the final task with the airplanes is a Roadblock. The last clue teams open up (Outside of the ship) is a blue Route Info clue. It's just that the rules of this clue specifically required the non-Roadblock team member to assemble the plane. The producers made a point of including a voiceover from Kristi/Jen explaining why she was the only one doing the task, which they wouldn't need to do if it was a Roadblock since we all know what a Roadblock is, but it was necessary in this case because it was an unusual circumstance. 96.48.238.205 (talk) 10:20, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The final task was definitely not a Roadblock. It was not mentioned by Phil to be so, and when teams opened their clue, it was a blue Route Info clue, not a red Roadblock one. It was only stated since the partner that did not do the Roadblock had to build the fighter jet, that it, Phil nor any of the other racers said it was not a Roadblock. Two proposals[edit]

Please see Talk:The Amazing Race for two proposals that would affect all TAR pages. 96.48.238.205 (talk) 00:52, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
