German or Dutch?[edit]

It is well referenced here that George Betjemann was German, and I have checked the links and that is all OK. Yet John Betjeman the poet insisted that it was Dutch.

Published in 1960. I have the first edition, also later editions and on audio tape read by John B himself. I don't dispute the facts here, but we should somehow mention that Betjeman himself said his ancestors claimed they were Dutch, not German. I don't know what would be best way to do this, a footnote or something. I do not want to just WP:BOLDly change the article as obviously the genealogy has been thoroughly researched, I don't want to mislead. But J. B. said the name is Dutch, and that should be noted somehow. Betjeman himself said that his father told him, it is Dutch. That is on the audio tape released by the BBC, of which my copy has long got mangled by the cassette recorder, but distinctly he says quoting his father, "No, John, it is not German, it is Dutch". 94.21.10.117 (talk) 05:05, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
