Fifth film![edit]

That's been made and is due out at some stage. So the character last appears in part V.PeterMan844 (talk) 01:09, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Format suggestions[edit]

Rather than just storming in and editing myself, I thought I may make some small suggestions here. Have you considered including the films themselves as citations, especially within the body of the article? As I recall, information about the character was sparingly dispensed throughout the series, making it easy to take sections and attribute them to each part of the story they were revealed in. Also, why are there so many links to pages for seemingly random nouns throughout the article? Finally, I would recommend combining the "development" and "characterization" sections and expanding on them together, as well as moving them to the top, immediately after the intro. Currently, the "Powers and weapons" section dominates the bulk of the page, leaving it feeling a little uneven. TheTJSquire (talk) 07:16, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You raise some good points, and I agree that the article needs some work. I've been meaning to do some of these changes myself for a while now, but I never got around to it. The biggest problem with sourcing stuff directly to the films is that it's difficult to avoid original research when interpreting primary sources. We can certainly source the films for plot details, though. I did a bit of work on Reggie (Phantasm) a while ago, and that's what I'd eventually like to see this article look more like. Reggie's article has a lot of citations to interviews by Reggie Bannister and Don Coscarelli. I'm sure we could do the same thing with this article. Interviews are typically a good source to find information about fictional characters. Many relevant sources are already in Phantasm (film)#Themes, which is where I started adding interpretations of the Tall Man. I didn't get around to importing those sources over here. Rewriting and Expanding[edit]

Considering the significance of the character, and their influence, I always am saddened to see articles like this in the state of underdevelopment that they are in. Essentially what this article needs is a complete rewrite and significant expansion. For starters the formatt/organisation of its information is poor at best (no fault to the article's developers) and needs to be redone in the following order/names: Appearances- Brief (and sourced) appearances of the character. If there is a good chunk of literary (comics and books) appearances, then it should be split into sub-sections Film and Literature. For a better idea on the proper format feel free to check the Featured article on Jason Voorhees. Concept and creation- This section should deal with the character's development, the design of the character, and the casting of the actor. If necessary, this can be split into two sub-sections detailing Development and Casting/Design. Characterization/Characteristica- Replacing the Powers/abilities section, this should detail the character's personality, characteristics, and characterization. Again, the best example of a fully developed section is Jason. Feel free to use that as a template. Legacy/Popular culture- This section deals with the character's influence on others, and their appearances/references in popular culture. This should not be formatted as bullet points as that is generally sloppy.

NOTE: I hope this all helps with the continued revisioning and expansion of this article. Any other questions fell free to ask.--Paleface Jack (talk) 18:32, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
