Categories[edit]

As I explained in my edit summary, the categories in question are not for use on longevity claims. That is what this is, there is absolutely no verification of his age. See WP:WikiProject Longevity for reliable sources on human longevity. This is not anywhere approaching a fully validated supercentenarian claim (it's actually one of the most absurd ones I've seen yet) and therefore belongs in Category:Longevity claims. There's nothing dubious in the article because the subject's year of birth has been stated in the multiple reliable sources. In my opinion; this situation looks like another instance of racial bias in Wikipedia. There are over a hundred articles on supercentenarians of other nationalities, races or ethnicities in the English Wikipedia. Well this discussion got poisoned quickly. First of all, there's a list of African supercentenarians who no one is questioning, plus an article (for the time being anyway) on Adelina Domingues where her claim is not disputed. The two claimants from Nigeria are being questioned because there's no proof whatsoever the claims are true. No, there's no racism here, just a total lack of modern verification standards. Exceptional claims require exceptional sources, and those are lacking here; none of these reliable sources show any effort to verify this age claim. My point is still relevant here because out of all the "African" supercentenarians on that list, none of them is from Subsaharan Africa. Besides, these supercentenarians either have white ancestry, lived in a country with a significant white presence (Cape Verde; South Africa, etc.) or migrated to other countries outside Africa. The multiple sources used in the Nigerian articles in terms of quality and authenticity are no different from the ones used in the other articles. There are a myriad of stories from people all over the world claiming to have lived to ridiculous ages. Wikipedia treats all of those, no matter where the people happen to be from, as unverified claims. No, none of the sources cite any documentary evidence that he was born in 1781 at all, which is entirely different from the articles on validated supercentenarians. If you go through those, you'll see at least one source in all of them which cites actual documentation of that person's age (Guinness, the Gerontology Research Group, etc.). This is not present here, and Wikipedia is not in the business of righting great wrongs. Cite for me one source which shows documentary evidence of his age, from an entity specializing in age verification. This is necessary because the specific claim is to have been the oldest man in history, and exceptional claims require exceptional sources; there are exactly none, so treating this as uncritically accepted fact is massively WP:UNDUE. Claiming to be the oldest man in history at years older than the highest recorded verified age would be very notable if it could be verified.
