but what happened?[edit]

what happened to the ship? there is no indication as to what happened, only that 37 survived. but survived what? Accident? military action? ship overloaded and sank? Article makes little sense without some pretty essential information. IdreamofJeanie (talk) 20:23, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fleeing the communist[edit]

I think it's fair to say that the people who got on the boat were fleeing the communists. If they merely wanted to escape the war, they could've fled to "liberated area" instead of going to Keelung. Many on board were government officials, soldiers, as well as rich businessmen so they were mostly afraid of CCP taking over. Big Wang (talk) 06:08, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

Seeing as this article is all but completely useless, I've decided to begin a translation from the Chinese version of this page, which is quite thorough but is titled 'Taiping Incident/Sinking of the Taiping'. It will be more or less a direct translation, but I will expand on it where possible. Dschslava (talk) 18:19, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Something's missing.[edit]

Can someone add photos of the Taiping and the Chienyuan? 2601:181:400:470:1979:C868:2AE8:5B3B (talk) 01:55, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
