Accessibility[edit]

Please consider reworking the game results table per MOS:ACCESS#Color. Particularly in the rows representing Tech victories, the black font is very difficult for some people to read against the dark red background. Fortguy (talk) 21:31, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The West Texas ChampionshipTCU–Texas Tech football rivalry – With a Google search the only time the term "The West Texas Championship" appears relating to TCU and Texas Tech is this Wikipedia article.[1] Likewise a search of Google news archives dating back to 1950 doesn't show the term West Texas Championship in conjunction with TCU or Texas Tech.[2] Even setting the range on Google news from 1950-2010, which removes recent articles, there is no use of the term "West Texas Championship." Also a search of the Lubbock, Texas, the location of Texas Tech University, newspaper's online archives show zero use of this term.[3] I've seen nothing to suggest that this term is in usage by either university, and even if it is used it is not widespread. Generally I would just be bold and move the article myself, however I figured it would be best to bring this to discussion. Southronite (talk) 21:16, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Once I get some more time to edit here, I was planning on moving information from this page to TCU–Texas Tech rivalry as an all encompassing article for all sports similar to Carolina–Clemson rivalry, Houston–Rice rivalry, Indiana–Purdue rivalry, Iowa–Iowa State rivalry, Kentucky–Louisville rivalry, and Virginia–Virginia Tech rivalry, leaving this page as a redirect to a section specific on football. There's plenty of well sourced information to extend this rivalry page away from just a single sport, but probably not enough to focus on only football. • Strong support. Giving silly and unintuitive names to college sports rivalries has been a major problem in our articles on the subject for many years now. These names almost always fail WP:COMMONNAME, if they are even used at all. In this case I can find no evidence that "The West Texas Championship" is ever used for this rivalry. Descriptive names are much more in keeping with use in the sources, more precise, more recognizable to reader, and in keeping with the general use in related articles. This should be followed for all of our college rivalry articles except in the very rare cases where a nickname really is the most common way of referring to the subject.--Cúchullain t/c 15:21, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and I would support expanding the article beyond just football and naming it TCU–Texas Tech rivalry as NThomas suggests, per sources such as this one.--Cúchullain t/c 15:26, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
