turns out this album was a reissue/repackaging of "The Magnificent Charlie Parker" (Clef MGC-646), released 1955 .... when I get a chance, I will add the artwork and discographical info, but perhaps the pagename itself should also be changed .... these Verve Essential Charlie Parker volumes were repackagings of older material after he died, including this Swedish Schnapps album

in fact, given the difference between recording dates and even Clef MGC-646's 1955, I bet all these tracks were originally released as 78rpm singles, and that should be added too .... the Jazz Discography site could probably give us clues

the way I figured out Swedish Schnapps was a reissue, was from this page on the BirkaJazz site .... BirrkaJazz are in fact a record store, thus may not be appropriate for citations, but they do have incredible pages for various jazz dicographies, with photos and notes of the earliest jazz lp releases

Composer (track 2/3 Swedish Schnapps)[edit]

Despite multiple public music forums/wikis stating so, this tune is in fact NOT the Charlie Shavers composition, which is a 12 bar blues in the style of dance hall swing. This is a 32 bar AABA "Rhythm Changes", very much in the bebop tradition, likely written by Charlie Parker himself, and happens to have the same name as the Shavers composition. 2601:193:8300:14A0:C51F:6301:240D:5BAD (talk) 15:04, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
