Comments[edit]

Hi, Frank. The big picture looks fine on 2.0. A. 213.48.46.141 (talk) 11:26, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The edit to Changing Times on 30 March 2011 involved adding an image. Details were posted, but did not take. (Electronic glitch?) LynwoodF (talk) 21:49, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A fine collection of information. It will be nice to see this and the Pooley content you have worked on better assimilated into the main Surbiton article itself. Whilst the 'see the article' links are a perfectly acceptable approach, I think there is merit for a summary of this and Pooley to be built into a richer sub-section for History in the town's primary article.John Gibbard (talk) 10:43, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments. Surbiton Park is not actually part of Surbiton, but is in Kingston upon Thames. It was developed in the wake of the establishment of the new town of Surbiton, because of its closeness to Surbiton station, but it was never included in the Borough of Surbiton. Paradoxically, it is adjacent to the original Surbiton, a hamlet of Kingston parish, most of the site of which is well inside Kingston. I put the article up on WP because it saddens me that hardly anyone who lives here is aware of the name. Estate agents do not use it. I thought I would record the existence of it before it became completely forgotten.
When I first looked at the article on Surbiton, I was very disappointed. It appears to have been written mainly by a transport enthusiast with little interest in history. I put in the 'see the article' links as a stopgap measure, fully intending to rewrite the History section, but I have been ill and have not yet summoned up the courage. Dates added 11/11/15 re Surbiton Place[edit]

Dates have been added for the death of Roffee and the sale to Paget. Both look reasonable, but no references are given and I have not been able to find dates for these events. Would the person who added them please let me know the source. LynwoodF (talk) 10:43, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
