News coverage of this article[edit]

This is in the news. Not sure why it has taken around three weeks for The Independent to find out about it.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:41, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Re this edit: While it is clear that someone claiming to be User talk:Stuart Anderson MP was blocked on 24 December 2019, it is hard to say if it actually was him. Also there may be WP:NOTNEWS issues. Let's see how this develops.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:56, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Iran[edit]

Hard to not get sarky about this. Iran, that source is not worth the paper it is written on?Slatersteven (talk) 18:48, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, not a reliable source in my opinion and over-quoted throughout the article. I found a couple of other references to his military career, although one of them is a speech in Hansard rather than a secondary source. There might be better ones. Shritwod (talk) 08:13, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A speech would be a primary source.Slatersteven (talk) 08:34, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have to say I am somewhat disturbed that such a poor source has been sued so much unchallenged until now.Slatersteven (talk) 09:10, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I know I'm late to the party but the Express & Star is a fairly ordinary local newspaper. You may be thinking of the national titles "Daily Express" and "Daily Star" which are tabloids with right-wing biases, and completely unrelated to the cited source. Punjabi lessons[edit]

Hello Emeraude, the Daily Express (RSP entry) is unreliable and should not be used as a source, particularly not for BLPs. We should also not use a tabloid to establish dueness/WP:PROPORTION. In any case, why are language lessons "relevant to a representative politician's career"? 192.76.8.70 (talk) 21:12, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Language lessons are absolutly not relevant to his career. That he expected us to pay for them is! If you don't like the Daily Express, try citing the exact same details from "Thousands claimed by Welsh MP’s on language lessons" (Herald Wales), "Conservative MP claimed nearly £22,000 to fund Polish lessons" (Politics), or other sources which also reported an official parliamentary report. Emeraude (talk) 11:05, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have replaced the Daily Express with the Politics source you helpfully provided and added that his seat has a large Indian community, given that the source deems it important enough to mention (WP:NPOV). Cheers, 129.67.117.167 (talk) 13:25, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
