Background on Standard Oil Trust formation

Looking over this history, I see that the background on the formation of trusts, of which the Standard Oil Trust is the exemplar, could be slightly stronger. It was a critical juncture in the company’s early history, even though there is a main article on trusts (which I see needs to be WP linked rather than just the Sherman Antitrust Act in the next subsection.) There is also an opportunity to correct the impression that the state laws at the time were about controlling scale when the underlying goal was mostly to facilitate tax revenues—by ensuring that local operations were incorporated in a state. Limiting scale was a significant but more indirect consequence. Zatsugaku (talk) 16:32, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Standard Oil Co. (Inc.) or The Standard Oil Company???

Was Standard Oil Co. or Standard Oil Co., Inc. legitimate names of Standard Oil because the original Standard Oil entity was always registered as The Standard Oil Company, "The" is part of the registered name. Granthew (talk) 01:08, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
