Anna Clayton's profession[edit]

@Zachs33: I see you are a barrister so I won't contradict your knowledge on the subject, but surely she must be a barrister or how is she shown standing in court acting as defence counsel? @Btljs: Apologies for the belated reply. We know that Mrs Clayton is a partner in a firm of solicitors. It could be that she is an employed barrister working for the firm, but the ban on this was only recently lifted and yet she is a named partner. This in itself suggests that she is a solicitor. We also know that she attends police station interviews; this is exceptionally rare for a barrister (and requires additional certification that most barristers do not possess) and even still, barristers (unlike solicitors) are not permitted to pursue any such cases into court. Then we come to the question of Mrs Clayton's appearance in court.

In England & Wales, many solicitors have qualified for what are known as 'higher rights', allowing them to appear in higher courts (such as the Crown Court, as depicted). When in the higher courts, solicitors wear gowns, wing-collars and cotton bands, and in some circumstances are permitted to wear wigs. Solicitors' gowns look slightly different and, in the spirit of accuracy, I have gone back and checked. In the first episode (at the 8-minute mark), Mrs Clayton is in court when she turns around and shows her back. She is clearly seen to be wearing a solicitor's gown. When it comes to TV drama, I am aware that legal accuracy is often sacrificed at the expense of the writers' convenience (and Lucky Man is certainly no exception!) and it could be that Mrs Clayton is a barrister who naively purchased a solicitors' gown by accident (and is somehow permitted to wear it in court), attends police station interviews for cases she pursues into litigation (and yet has not found herself disbarred), and is also a lead partner in a firm of solicitors. It is far more likely that Mrs Clayton is in fact a solicitor, and I have found little to suggest otherwise. Zachs33 (talk) 13:23, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cast section[edit]

I'm not sure what "Current" meant, even in the context of when the show was actually on, as some of the "Former" cast members were actually in the final season. What was "current"? Seems odd, and likely to remain so.... 81.78.159.126 (talk) 23:34, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
