Suggestions from a Student[edit]

Hello I am a college student working on the WikiSpiders project and wanted to include some constructive feedback. This is for a Behavioral Ecology course, so many of the suggestions will be surrounding behavior.

Some strengths of this article are that it is sectioned off very well for each topic. This organized structure helps the reader pinpoint information easily, as talked about in the Good Article features. Even more so, the lead is very concise and provides information that follows the Wiki Spiders description. It also describes its endangered status very well, linking to the cause and events that lead to its endangerment. Three general categories that could be included are reproduction and life cycle, mating, and protective coloration and behavior. Reproduction and life cycle would include information regarding fertilization, brood size, molting and life span. Understanding reproduction can help synthesize the survival choices of the spider to best utilize its resources. Brood size and life span tend to be related in governing an individual’s behavior. If a spider has a small life span, it likely has a large brood size to be able to ensure that its genes spread. Mating is another missing section that should be included in this Wikipedia article. Information on mate searching behavior and gendered interactions can be linked to genetic polymorphisms. Listing these interactions can provide a robust knowledge of the spider’s techniques and may also give rise to a better genetic understanding. Lastly, a section dedicated to protective coloration and behavior should be added because the article begins to describe the colorings of this spider but should elaborate on why these colors are beneficial and what kind of survival advantage it gives the species. Per the Talk page, this article has been rated “Start” and of “Low” importance. This article has room for improvement; however, it is a highly specific spider that is lesser-known. I think that given the endangered state of this spider, it should be of more importance. Akwan826 (talk) 17:39, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Akwan826: this is the encyclopedia that anyone can edit and there are few active spider editors to respond to your suggestions. So feel free to add to the article. Peter coxhead (talk) 20:40, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
