Requested move

Adding "communication" is redundant. 199.125.109.135 (talk) 02:39, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I think that would be a good thing, if this article became the index generally for the ones that it links to (speech production, speech pathology, etc), but then we would need to make it inclusive... any takers? Larynxdude (talk) 17:36, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Speech production page absent

The speech production page redirects back here. Until someone is able to produce content for that page, it seems redundant (technically, recursive) to link to it as a "main article" from the section on speech production. I'm commenting out that link for now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TimothyMills (talkcontribs) 11:18, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Problems involving trolls

"Due to the constriction of the aveolar nerve as it passes through the mandible foramen on its way to the tongue, ther is a very limited conbinationof sounds that a human being can make. for example, it is physically impossible to pronounce the words "eye", "laws", "dug" and "aim" in sequence." ... Ahem.--84.149.14.245 (talk) 23:27, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

needs additional citations: is it needed?

This article has a "This article needs additional citations for verification" notice. But the article itself consists of subsections that are summarizes with redirects to other articles that contain them. It seem therefore that citations on those pages should be considered as relevant.--LittleHow (talk) 09:30, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Some possible sources of supporting citations for this article.

I hope this helps dolfrog (talk)

This is a redlink in the main article that could be created, just FYI. — Cirt (talk) 19:59, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Vocal language should be merged into Speech

Vocal language is just another name/synonym for Speech, and the Vocal language section is already marked as a stub. So the page Vocal language should be merged into Speech page. Jahid 06:21, 19 March 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jahid.Hamid (talkcontribs)

Not really, they're quite different C933103 (talk) 09:20, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

Avery Robinson is So cool

Or we could just expand it. Go to Vocal language again, they have a German version that's much bigger; if anyone can read German and English. TheSmartPersonUS1 (talk) 18:39, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

Written Speech

Hello, I've been working on written Speech. Here is a source that shows written Speech: https://www.ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=speech. Written Speech is also found on Wiktionary: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/speech. I suggest a possible change to the Intro: Speech "includes" written language, which may differ in its vocabulary, syntax, and phonetics from the spoken language, a situation called diglossia. Phonetics also uses written symbols: https://www.ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=phonetics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1C2:4F01:71D0:183C:AF6B:A481:5AF7 (talk) 22:33, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

Article denies the African origins of speech. Clearly racist article

We all know that first homo sapiens come from Africa, and that first speech comes from Africa. Wikipedia articles often ignore the black, African roots of homo sapiens and claim that such info is unknown (similar to PIE which also has African foundations that are ignored.)

BTW: My edits to these Wikipedia purposefully racist articles, have been deleted for over 5 years. I don't expect this one to survive the racist editor's but as usual, I'm keeping screenshots for future use in legal battle against the fascism on Wikipedia. --2604:2000:DDC0:DF00:A1EC:881A:BDAE:438B (talk) 11:06, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

After over 5 years of editing, you should know that Wikpedia needs reliable sources for all content—see wp:RS. Also, now topics on talk pages go to the bottom—see Help:Using talk pages. Finally, accusing other editors of racism usually does not help—see wp:AFG and wp:Talk page guidelines. - DVdm (talk) 11:56, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
