South Canara[edit]

Kensplanet, first get your facts right, dakshina kannada is a place named as south canara by British government. after independence south canara renamed as dakshina kannada by central government of India. after that dk divided into two parts by government of karnataka.

according to wiki policies ,see Help:Merging_and_moving_pages#Merging, it is very clear that there is no need of two separate articles of same subject.

South Canara will be redirected to Dakshina Kannada, and the contents present here should be merged into Dakshina Kannada article.

if you continue vandalisng this page ,i will bring this notice to WP:INDIA,let it be resolved in there.

South Canara is not the present Dakshina Kannada. It was the Undivided Dakshina Kannada. South Canara areawise is much larger than today's Dakshina Kannada.

South Canara = Present Dakshina Kannada + Present Udupi
Dakshina Kannada = Only Present Dakshina Kannada and not Udupi.

I have encountered thousands of statistics which give details of South Canara. But those statistics cannot be put into the Dakshina Kannada article; the reason being SC=DK + Udupi.KensplanetTalkContributions 13:18, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • BEST EXAMPLE
  • Do you know that Constantinople and Istanbul are the same. Then why 2 articles for the same city. Reason is Constantinople refers to the city under the Christians or Romans and Istanbul refers to the city under the Muslim Turks.
  • Similarly, South Canara and Dakshina Kannada areawise are different. Hence 2 articles can exist. Please do not merge as you'll be reverted. KensplanetTalkContributions 13:24, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, you didn't waste anyone's time. That's what a Talk page is supposed to be for. I conclude that you have a good knowledge of Wikipedia. May I suggest creating an account. May You be an asset to Wikipedia in the future. Thanks, KensplanetTalkContributions 19:08, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
