Merge simple vow[edit]

I propose that Simple vow be merged into Solemn vow. It's currently a stub that basically says "a simple vow is a vow that's not a solemn vow. For more information see solemn vow". A separate article adds nothing. The only question is whether the merged article should be renamed to something like Solemn vows and simple vows to make clear that it discusses both. jnestorius(talk) 21:50, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest keeping the name of the article and simply doing a redirect to it for "simple vow", since the term arose to make the distinction of what a solemn vow is. Jzsj (talk) 22:21, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A failure of understanding[edit]

Reading this entry, it is apparent to me that the brave editors have collectively failed to grasp the essential distinction between simple and solemn vows. This probably mirrors the degradation of public understanding of religious practice, resulting in haphazard referencing and a compounded confusion before even reaching for the historic niceties posed by past churchmen.
