SzDP is not a member of the socialist international. The official name of the party is HUNGARIAN SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY (MSzDP) SzDP and MSzDP are two different parties.

They might as well be 2 different parties, it still takes deeper knowledge to know, neither one is the continuition of the MSZDP/SZDP. Fact is, that both Kapolyi and Szűrös are politicians with active pasts in the high ranks of the former Hungarian Social Workers Party, the very same party that obstructed immigrant hungarian social democracy. Of course, even among the immigrants are some phonies who pretend to be true followers of Kéthly or Peyer. My suggestion is, that members of the SZDP and the party itself before 1990 should not link to this page, as both so called social democratic parties are satellite organisations for the MSZP and Fidesz. I propose amending the title of this article to "Hungarian Social Democratic Party" to distinguish MSZDP from SZDP. Karadameguricha (talk) 07:02, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shinichi1977 I disagree with the argument that the page should be changed to differentiate between the SZDP of the 1940s and the current parties - simply because we could end up with 4 separate wikipedia articles for Hungarian social democracy, as there was also a name change in 1939. In addition to this, your description of the parties as satellites is not entirely accurate: you're not entirely wrong, there is some truth in what you say, but both the present-day SZDP and MSZDP have contingents of veterans from 1945-1948 and 1956 - traditional social democrats. And the presence of these means that both parties have elements of continuity with the old MSZDP, even if the leadership have often been partial to the current trends of Hungarian politics. Karadamaguricha - I'm not sure why changing the name of the article would help.
