Date of Establishment[edit]

It is not clear to me that the Snake Bay Patrol was formed in the 1930s.

This reference:

Peryman, John. "A Brief History of Indigenous Service to the RAN" (PDF). A Naval Salute: Celebrating the Centenary of the Royal Australian Navy 1911–2011. Royal Australian Navy. p. 24.

includes a photo with the caption "SNAKE BAY PATROL COMPRISING MELVILLE ISLANDERS CIRCA 1939/." That same photo appears in

Clark, Chris. "A question of numbers – Second World War". Australian War Memorial. Retrieved 10 June 2017.

The photo has a link to https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C54124 which says "Date made 22 December 1943". So, it would seem that the photo is not best described as "CIRCA 1939" In contrast:

Cole-Adams, Kate (6 Dec 1991). "Belated honor for 'black diggers'". The Age. Melbourne. p. 6. Retrieved 17 Jul 2019.

states that the units were formed after the first bombing raid on Darwin. I've taken the liberty of removing "Category:1930s in the Northern Territory". If someone has a citation for the patrol starting in the 1930's, then by all means please add that category back in. Cxbrx (talk) 03:00, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
