Mustelus laevis[edit]

This species is often quoted as being the shark in which Aristotle discovered ovovivparity. It's found in the seas round Lesbos. Quite possibly it has been renamed sometime in the last century: at any rate it seems unlikely that any small shark in European waters would go unnoticed by taxonomists. My interest is simply to get accurate info into history of biology pages. Can anyone help? Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:17, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to FishBase, Mustelus leavis Linck, 1790 is a junior synonym of Mustelus mustelus (Linnaeus, 1758) [1]. Gdr 18:36, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
