Name Change[edit]

For a long time the common name of this species was the `Lesser Spotted Dogfish'. Why has the name been changed and under whose authority? Barney Bruchstein (talk) 18:29, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you that most people know this as the 'Lesser spotted Doogfish' or 'Rough-hound'. The use of names for sea fish appears to be convention and locality. Unlike birds, for example, where an imperfect effort was made to standardise English names this has not happened with fish as far as I can tell.dorkinglad (talk)
