I have to add that Simon himself has emphasized many, many times that he is Macedonian, "we, Macedonian people", Welcome, brothers Macedonians", and the like, so he IS very attached to his national origin and never misses an opportunity to say so. Furthermore, at his concert in Skopje in May 2009, he was advertised as "the greatest Macedonian of all times after Alexander the Great"!So he considers himself to "be spreading the glory of his nation". Untitled[edit]

I find that the emphasis on Trpceski as a "Macedonian" talent and artist overlooks the very important fact that he is regarded by his professional and critical colleagues as simply one of the most gifted young talents in the world. As no one would seek to claim Yefim Bronfman as the finest pianist to come from Uzbekistan, I hope that this excessively provincial patriotic pride doesn't give the impression of a provincial level of ability.

  • Agreed, and the article as it stood read more like an agent's puff piece than a factually-based encyclopedia entry. I've tried to remedy that situation and to invite further attention by flagging it as a stub. Now, I guess I'd better seek out some of his recordings, since I've never actually heard him play!
