Page move[edit]

@Anthony Appleyard: I only see three games. Compilation edition doesn't count as a fourth release in the series or an unrelated non-game media item. This move is not inline with WP:NCVG. -- ferret (talk) 12:07, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ferret and Neverrainy: See https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requested_moves/Technical_requests&oldid=793408214 ; User:Neverrainy asked for this move at 15:16, 1 August 2017 (UTC). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 16:27, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Anthony Appleyard: I figured as much but the request rationale is essentially invalid. There is no fourth game or unrelated media. I don't care enough to wheel war on the move but letting you know. -- ferret (talk) 18:02, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Ferret: Currently the plain name page Silent Scope is about the series, and its members are described in disambiguated pages. Is the first game (now in Silent Scope (video game)) very dominant above the other members of the series? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:46, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Anthony Appleyard: I'm not sure what you mean. The basic idea of WP:NCVG is that we don't have to weigh whether the first game is more dominant than the second or third. We only weigh the first game versus the series page, based on the set of criteria: If a video game series has a naming conflict solely with the first game in the series (e.g., Final Fantasy), the series page should reside at the primary name if the series possesses a minimum of 3 video game articles as well as at least one other unrelated video game or related media item. Otherwise, the first game in the series should occupy the primary name, and the series article should be disambiguated with "... (series)"..
Because this game does not have any unrelated video games or related media, the first game should remain the primary topic, and the series should be at (series). This is how it was arranged before the move. -- ferret (talk) 21:24, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

– Doesn't seem necessary for the video game to be primary when this is a fairly long running series and none of the particular games have more notability than the other. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:32, 24 November 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. bd2412 T 23:37, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - The series article is very short. Also, its two sequels received mixed or poor reception. Unsure about the separate arcade installment. George Ho (talk) 07:50, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Neither of those are a reason not to move it. If anything it will encourage the series article to be lengthened. The original Silent Scope also got mediocre reviews - it's not a very well reviewed series in general. I got a chance to play the arcade game and it seemed really good, though.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:41, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • How would making the series the primary topic lead to the article being expanded? Regardless of whether or not the primary topic would change, merger would be considered. Alternatively, why not merge it into the other article as the "Legacy" or "Sequels" section? George Ho (talk) 13:04, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, given that as discussed above, the series itself seems about as notable as the games in he series. Steel1943 (talk) 17:43, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, the series as notable as the games in he series. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:40, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

I note that the whole history of the target Silent Scope (video game) is

21:33, 2 August 2017‎ Anthony Appleyard (talk | contribs | block)‎ . . (43 bytes) +43‎ . . (Anthony Appleyard moved page Silent Scope (video game) to Silent Scope over redirect: asked)

so it's probably good to ping them, ferret and Neverrainy. Andrewa (talk) 01:20, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
