bart vale created shootfighting ?? WTF ..he did coin the term but the old UWF team of sotoro sayama,fujiwara,suzuki,funaki etc are credited with shootfighting's creation,they just called it "stiff style"/shooting etc. ............

Shootfighting is a REGISTERED TRADEMARK to Bart vale (reference). The history of shootfighting started when Bart Vale registered the term, but it's roots are based on shoot wrestling. The UWF team is credited with the creation of shoot wrestling(which is the IDENTICAL to "shooting style"), and shootfighting is derived from shootwrestling. It was my mistake not to include clear links to shootwrestling, but I added them now, so there is no need to repeat the history of shootwrestling here. Dear sweet god in heaven........ did you honestly think that i have'nt already read that article ?? everyone who even has a remote intrest in shootfighting has,my friend.Yes Vale coined the term since sayama called it "Shooting" and his style conflicted with the submission based style of Maeda but the style in itself existed before Vale's coming into PWFG.The styles of RINGS Submission fighting,Pancrase,Shooto etc. all trace their history back/are subdivisions of the original "shooting" practiced by the UWF roster before the breakup and eventual formation of the PWFG,RINGS,Shooto feds etc.

The UWF team created the style that we call shootfighting and later on branched into Funaki+suzuki's PANCRASE,Maeda's RINGS Submission Wrestling,Sayama's Shooto(with emphasis on kicks) and Vale's Shootfighting(he coined the term).

So please Don't take a shortcut and say"Hey !! the guy came up with a name for a style which already existed,modified it a bit and got a trademark.So let's forget about the history of the style and how the guy got to learn it".The style existed already,he named it as any american would but he did'nt create it.At best he modified the art which already existed.

Accoring to one source, the UWF team created the style called shootwrestling in English(Reference). If you've got any sources saying that it's called shootfighting, please share them (sources which aren't affiliated with the International Shootfighting Association, since this is clearly biased). It is not my intention of discrediting the history of this particular style of fighting, but as i've said earlier, it is already listed in the history of shootwrestling, and there is no need to repeat it when you can use a link. ---Marcus- 01:27, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

After careful scrutiny of the matter, i've noticed that the mixed martial arts competitions were referred to as shootfighting before Bart Vale registered it as his trademark, but that term is only used colloquially nowadays.
