I think Om asato maa sadgamaya appears in Brihadaranyaka, but I'm not sure if it appears there as shanti mantra in the beginning of some chapter. I have included only those mantra's as shanti mantras which appear in the beginning of some chapters to pacify evil obstacles. can anobody clarify if Om asato maa sadgamaya appears as shanti mantra in Brihadaranyaka?

Mantras in devanagari[edit]

I would really appreciate it if someone could post these mantras in Devanagari also. It is very hard to read these mantras when they are written in english.

I live in the US and if I find it difficult to read these when written in english, then many others might be having trouble.

You should purchase the book the Mantra Pushpam. It contains all of the posted prayers and Vedic Recitations in Devanagari. The book is in expensive and pretty easy to find. You can probably get it from any book seller or distributor from India.

Perhaps you should check out the American Sanskrit Institute. He has a wonderful course and teaches the Alphabet. It is easy to learn and enjoyable. You can find it by browsing the internet using the name. Good Luck!!

The mantras used in this section - Shanti Mantra - have many mistakes (in Devnagari version). स्थिरैरन्ङ्गैस्तुष्टुवागं' - the 5th letters of 2 groups do not come together how it is used in the word. Again is not a 'gam' but is a 'gvam' संदधाम्यृतम् – Here anuswar is requied accoding to Sanskrit vyakaran half m coverts in anuswar if it is in the middle of the sentence. सर्वम् ब्रह्मौपनिषदम् - Here anuswar is requied accoding to Sanskrit vyakaran half m coverts in anuswar if it is in the middle of the sentence. पूर्णमिदम् - Here anuswar is requied accoding to Sanskrit vyakaran half m coverts in anuswar if it is in the middle of the sentence. त्वामेव – It is tvam and not not tvaam. Tvam – kartta - means you and tvaam – karma - means – to you. प्रत्यक्षम् - Here anuswar is requied accoding to Sanskrit vyakaran half m coverts in anuswar if it is in the middle of the sentence. ब्रिहस्पतिर्दधातु – It is the worst mistake one can make. The word Brihaspati is written using double combination 'br' and 'bri'. These basic mistakes are made by people without knowledge of Hindi and Sanskrit. Mr. Lokesh who seem to have written this is a software engineer and not a Sanskrit scholar. He shouldn't be given a chance to write in Sanskrit section. I feel that wikipedia rapes our languages and culture by putting wrong things on website. They are a lot of people who are great scholar and wikipedia collects millions of dollars. Why doesn't it pay the scholars and get authentic work ? If it doesn't stop corrupting knowledge then we will have to protest. The Sanskrit version is from the book Mantra Pushpam published by the Ramakrishna Math, Mumbai. This book is used by Vaidic scholars.--Sankarrukku (talk) 17:09, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[edit]

Avoid giving links in sub-headings, as against WP: MOS
Add references
Do not link an article (e.g. Shanti or Mantra) n no. of times in the same section
Add categories and link to the article to other suitable articles
At this moment, the article is mostly exact verses and translations. Build up sections on things like usuage in Hindu ceremonies etc. (which is mostly all put in the lead)
