Date of Birth[edit]

When was Hammer born? 1970 or 71? There's two different dates in the infobox and the main article. Rogerthat Talk 12:08, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... you're right. I've corrected the date of birth to Sept 6 1970 as per two references

Fair use rationale for Image:Shaneheal.jpg[edit]

Image:Shaneheal.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Near East[edit]

I m sure that Heal during the late 90s played in another greek club called Near East81.24.179.24 (talk) 14:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found this:
"He played for the Greek club Kasani in the 2003/04 season and has also played for Near East Athens and Imola Fillatice (Italy)." from Basketball Australia, via Google cache
and:
"Heal is no stranger to the Greek league, widely regarded as the premier basketball league in the world outside of the American NBA, having played for Near East Athens in the 1998/99 and 1999/2000 seasons where he averaged 20.4 points and 4.0 assists. He ranked second overall for assists and fourth overall for scoring in the 1998/99 season and third overall for points and assists in the 1999/2000 season.
He was also selected in the 1999 Greek All-Star Game, 2000 Greek All-League 1st Team and the 2000 Greek All-Imports 1st Team – the only Australian to receive such honours." from Basketball Australia, also via Google cache (It seems that club, Near East Athens, no longer exists, or is not known under that name.)
Heal's Greek and Italian stints seem definitely worth more research and inclusion in the article. Once that is done, Heal could be included in this excellent article in the German Wikipedia: Basketball in Griechenland (Baskeball in Greece). Michael Bednarek (talk) 00:11, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The article is very heavily tilted toward his NBL stats and doesn't even really mention his NBA career. matt91486 (talk) 00:02, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Playing Career - light on detail? =[edit]

  • The Sydney Kings detail is sparse, with just a list of stats; perhaps a list of the years he played for them, and positions/captaincy status?
  • What needs clarification about the 'captained the inaugaral championship team' statement?
  • Any origin of the nickname 'Hammer'? -- Gth-au (talk) 23:54, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
