Shouldn't the "Town With No Cheer" section be expanded a bit to say that the song is really an American's poetic version of the towns history, with many apocryphal features, like calling "the Overland" "the Overlander" and stating that the company that operated the train at the time station closed was called "VicRail"?

Perhaps, because the song is no doubt more famous than the town. But the page is about the town, not about the song. Incidentally, the song references Vicrail closing the refreshment room (two years before Swordfishtrombones was released) rather than the station's closure, which happened later.
