List[edit]

This is currently a list of discovery protocols. Is the intent to also discuss discovery process and techniques? If it is just to reamin a list, we should consider a rename to List of discovery protocols. --Kvng (talk) 17:49, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

agree, marking as list, removing unrelated DAB term SDP. Widefox; talk 12:55, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Does DHCP really belong on this list?[edit]

It seems to me that DHCP is fundamentally different from most (if not all) of the other protocols on this list. Whereas DNS-SD (for example) is an extensible service that facilitates the discovery of many other services, DHCP is just a service whose clients can automatically find it. I suppose one could argue that it is also a discovery mechanism for BOOTP servers, but only because it is an extension of BOOTP. It's still not a generic discovery protocol.
