The lead image for this article has been discussed at length. Wikipedia is not censored and potentially offensive illustrations are necessary for encyclopedic treatment of a difficult and sensitive topic. The consensus is that the image, by showing healed self-harm scars (rather than, say, open wounds), balances informational value with offensiveness.
