This image should be replaced as the "Obscurred" region makes no sense. That region is visible at radio wavelengths.

Why is it called "Scutum–Centaurus"?[edit]

The junction of the arm with the bar appears to be in Scutum, the location of RSGC1 and 2. (The glorious Scutum Star Cloud is not in the Scutum arm, but in the intervening Carina–Sagittarius arm.) What features belong to Centaurus? Are there any features one might actually see in visible light, or is this whole arm essentially invisible behind the other arms? -- Elphion (talk) 21:51, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
