Merge proposal[edit]

Independent scholar, which has been a two-line stub for over a decade, would be better off merged into this article as a section. bd2412 T 14:56, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge done. Good talk. bd2412 T 14:13, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The world's greatest scholar[edit]

Chairman Mao declared himself to be the world's greatest scholar because he had killed nine thousand of them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.144.105.101 (talk) 23:58, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

````My apologies. Here is an update:
For Mao, the No. 1 enemy was the intellectual. The so-called Great Helmsman reveled in his blood-letting, boasting, “What’s so unusual about Emperor Shih Huang of the China Dynasty? He had buried alive 460 scholars only, but we have buried alive 46,000 scholars.” Mao was referring to a major “accomplishment” of the Great Cultural Revolution, which from 1966-1976 transformed China into a great House of Fear.<ref>heritage.org<ref> — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.144.105.101 (talk) 00:05, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
