Schilling (disambiguation)Schilling – I don't think there's a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this term. Most hits for schilling -wikipedia or Books and Scholar searches of the same terms return results related to people with the surname. (The general search is weighted towards Curt Schilling.) Unless you're Austrian or into numismatics, the Austrian coin is probably not the first thing that will come to mind when you hear "schilling." BDD (talk) 17:46, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I would normally immediately agree with the move of a dab into primary slot over a redirect, unfortunately the Austrian schilling is exactly what immediately comes to mind. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:02, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - I would assume most traffic would be from someone who is thinking of Curt or some other person and forgets their first name. Red Slash 02:37, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, BDD has it right. - WPGA2345 - 01:42, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose for now. Per WP:COMMONNAME, searches should use Gbooks and Gscholar rather than general web searches, because Gbooks and Gscholar concentrate reliable sources. The assumptions of editors are not mentioned anywhere as a valid criterion for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and the assumption that a contemporary sportsperson is primary over the currency of a developed nation bears a little more scrutiny against the "long term significance" criterion.
Here's a Gbooks search for "schilling" -wikipedia-"books, llc". It does not appear to indicate the baseball player as primary topic, though I have not checked enough of the results to see whether the Austrian currency is primary. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 00:16, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
BrownHairedGirl, you might have misread me. I'm not suggesting the baseball player is primary, just that the Austrian currency isn't. --BDD (talk) 16:01, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@BDD: Sorry if I appeared to be putting words in your mouth. My intent was to say that even dislodging the former Austrian currency (not a coin, BTW) requires a little evidence rather than just assertion. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:11, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
On reflection, I have struck my !vote to oppose. I think that the best way to approach this is to assume no primary topic unless there is evidence to support the primacy of a particular topic. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:15, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. There is no primary topic for Schilling, so it should be a disambiguation page. Calidum 19:01, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
