Shouldn't some notice be taken of Albert Schweitzer's comments on these chorales in his biography of Bach (1906, in French)? There Schweitzer, an excellent and well-informed organist, dismisses them: "They offer no interest" (p. 180). Further on he says, "I cannot understand what could have pushed Bach to make this publication." To say that they are "an approachable version of the music of the cantatas" as this article does seems only to damn with faint praise... GianniBGood (talk) 16:25, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
