Which John Savage?[edit]

For such wealthy and well-known Philadelphians, there seems to be little biographic information on either gentleman. The John Savage, of Savage and Dugan, was born in Philadelphia in 1765 or more likely 1766 given he was 69 at the time of his death in the month of November (1834). The John Savage from Jamaica was born in 1790. There is no record of Savage and Dugan until 1799 (ad in Philadelphia Daily Advertiser). John Savage, of Savage and Dugan, was never married but had a daughter Margaret with Elizabeth Crosby (per his will) and a son John (no mother mentioned). The biographical information in Sully is not correct and the portrait looks more like a 50-60 yr old than a 30 year old. So it may be the correct painting of John Savage of Savage and Dugan, but the wrong biography. So how do we improve this article? Benthos103 (talk) 15:09, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
