Date of Old Pavillion burning[edit]

I'm not sure of the date the Old Pavillion burned down, but I believe it took place earlier than the 1960's as mentioned at the end of the second introductory paragraph. The previous edit had it listed as burning down in the 1930's, which sounds closer to what I recall being taught in local history at Saugatuck High School. I encountered a postcard today that dated the burning of the Old Pavilion as March 13, 1968, but with no source listed. Stryke3 07:37, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reference to support the May 6, 1960 date of the Big Pavillion fire? [1] appears to be an oral history by a local resident who witnessed the fire.Stryke3 (talk) 05:36, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am that local resident. "Generously illustrated, the book takes the reader from construction in 1909 to destruction (by fire) in 1960..." "In 1960, the Big Pavilion, grown a bit shabby, burned in an historic blaze. The largely wooden community escaped devastation through a quirk of the wind that carried the blaze across the river." http://www.saugatuckdouglas.com/history.html

"...There was the Big Pavilion, which opened in 1909 as a palace of summer fun and was destroyed by fire on 6 May 1960."

History POV?[edit]

The history section is biased and should be re-written. Why critique the suburbs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.131.99.25 (talk) 15:27, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Waterfront Film Festival[edit]

Should a Waterfront Film Festival section be added to the article? I feel as though the festival has had a huge impact on Saugatuck, and has become a large tradition every summer throughout the past 13 years. I think a lot of people would have never discovered Saugatuck if not for the festival's prominence and attraction. Bramson (talk) 19:00, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
