Talk:Sandia High School

In 1975 we were told in orientation that the original school team name was going to be the "Sandia Satans", in keeping with the alliteration then in vogue with other APS high schools (e.g. Highland Hornets). Local opposition (from the church across the street, apparently) led to the selection of the somewhat less alliterative name "Sandia Matadors".

Unfortunately, it's not as though I still have notes from 1975, but hesitated to change anything on the off-chance that the original authors could validate their version of the name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.100.231.62 (talk) 02:39, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jim Morrison[edit]

Is listed as an alum, but on his page it says he graduated elsewhere with no mention of this school. Technically, an alum is someone who has graduated from a given school. It is possible that he did attend here for a while, given the nomadic life a military family lives, but did he really graduate from Sandia, or was he only here for a while before moving elsewhere to finish high school?

I am giving the benefit of the doubt here that he actually did attend here. Wschart (talk) 03:47, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Morrison moved before he was in HS Papamurph42 (talk) 03:20, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gymnastics/Hockey/Boys VB[edit]

Gymnastics cite might be hard to find. Not sure it was an NMAA sanctioned sport for girls/boys.

Boys VB won an inaugural state title season during 2021-2022. Will cite.

Hockey also tough to find. Will look into if Sandia was even a sponsor. Papamurph42 (talk) 03:19, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
