Recent move: Samtskhe-Atabagate?[edit]

@Georgiano:, what did you actually do? --KoberTalk 19:01, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Samtskhe-Atabagate is aglicized name of Samtskhe-Saatabago, which is Georgian/original name of principality. root of Saatabago is title "Atabeg", it equals to "Prince". Sa- is Georgian prefix which is not natural for English. example: Principality of Mingrelia is anglicized version of Samegrelos samtavro. "Atabagate" term is accepted by several sources. 1Georgiano (talk) 19:36, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yes, but (1) "Samtskhe-Atabagate" is unknown in English and (2) the spelling "atabagate" is less common than "atabegate". Moreover, Samtskhe-Saatabago is very common in English sources, whatever it's meaning. Srnec (talk) 01:01, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • Exactly. Samtskhe-Saatabago has become a proper name of the entity and there is no need to anglicize it. By the same logic, Samachablo should become Machabelate. Since it is impossible to move the page back to its former title, I think the admin should get involved to restore the saatabago version and Georgiano should initiate a poll to get the consensus for move. --KoberTalk 16:07, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
