Inventor[edit]
The inventor of this musical instrument is a living musician, Leon Gruenbaum, who lives in New York. The author, an amateur musician who is not associated with the inventor, has listened to a performance on this instrument and found it interesting and noted that it is referred to on a separate Wikipedia page Vernon Reid, from which he concluded that there may be interest in the instrument itself. One tends to need a long interval of time before artistic, musical inventions come before a large audience; however, it seems worthwhile to initiate an encyclopedia entry for all those that have been used on publicly recorded music, such as this.
http://www.samchillian.com/nyt.jpg is a New York Times article that has a few paragraphs on the invention. It is covered by US Patents 5,565,641 "Relativistic electronic musical instrument" (Gruenbaum). The Patent seems to relate to notability, although the author is not sure of this. The author has some difficulty inferring notability in the arts, given that there are many musicians whose names are certainly not "famous" and yet who are known to other musicians. Rozenwithaz
