Samandağ page should NOT be merged with Seleucia Pieria page[edit]

It has been proposed to merge the article on Samandağ with that of Seleucia Pieria. This was based on the (false) assumption that Samandağ lies on the site of the ancient Seleucian port, as it was stated in the Samandağ page (already corrected), which even mentioned Seleucia Pieria as the ancient name of Samandağ.

In fact, Seleucia Pieria lies a few kilometers to the west of Samandağ in the village of Çevlik, whose name derives precisely from Seleucia.

For this reason the two articles should not be merged into one as they do not refer to the same site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.186.243.63 (talk) 08:22, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that Samandağ page should not be merged with Seleucia Pieria page[edit]

In addition to the correct statements that the site of Seleucia Pieria is not located at the site of the modern town of Samandağ, it should be noted that the significance of the ancient city of Seleucia is properly related with the relocation of the capital of Seleucus I Nicator from mesopotamia to this site, therefore the retention of the name Seleucia for the article is significant as it aids the reader in understanding this connection and places the site in correct relationship to it's historical context. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.60.84 (talk) 17:49, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bahar Kimyongür[edit]

I've given an explanation in this edit summary back in 2011, my mistake for not repeating the argument in the newer edits and only focusing on defending my edit against Minorities observer's vandalism allegations instead. I've also given a thorough explanation here. The source just verifies Kimyongür's father was from Samandağ (and mother from nearby). It does not establish an involvement of Kimyongür in local politics, if i remember correctly is doesn't even establish his presence there (the citation link does not work anymore). I find this mention not just WP:UNDUE but completely irrelevant to this section as well. GroGaBa (talk) 13:55, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to agree with your reasoning. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 14:26, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. She is totally irrelevant for this article. 185.43.229.136 (talk) 01:26, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Titus or Vespasian?[edit]

The Tunnel is known as "Titus Tunnel" or "the Tunnel of Titus", not Vespasian Tunnel or the Tunnel of Vespasian. 185.43.229.136 (talk) 01:58, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
