Fair use rationale for Image:Samdestefano.jpg[edit]

Image:Samdestefano.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Shotgun used[edit]

Does anyone have any information on the type of shotgun round that was used? The article states that one 'bullet' struck him in the heart and another tore his arm off at the elbow. I changed bullet to round as unless a deer slug is being used, there's no such thing as a shotgun "bullet" (whereas even a deer slug is not referred to as a bullet). goddamn[edit]

the style of this article is awful, it reads like a crime novel. needs more citations. 68.94.236.241 (talk) 21:18, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I'm not sure how this is B-class by any standard. I think this article is due for re-evaluation. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 11:06, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are dangling references to people in the article that have no previous antecedent to explain why they are included. Same goes for incidents as well. Really crappy writing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.215.2.60 (talk) 06:21, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting factoids[edit]

Apparently "Mad Sam", during a trial late in his career, plead the fifth a total of 337 times. From a really interesting column that relates a neat little story of a DeStefano trial. The trial is supposed to be one where he was accused of threatening a government witness, and he represented himself. I've included the source information in case someone comes back to this. (Fitzpatrick, Tom (1991-01-09). "The Kinship of Killers". Phoenix New Times. p. 5. {{cite news}}: |access-date= requires |url= (help)) —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 18:47, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DeStefano also apparently rated a brief mention in Playboy back in 2000. They talk about the Jackson killing. (Staff (2000-05-01). "THE REAL DEAL; mobster violence; Brief Article". Playboy. 47 (5). Chicago: HMH Pub. Co: 120. ISSN 0032-1478. OCLC 3534353.) —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 18:55, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, there's another Sam DeStefano in Chicago who recently (~8 years ago) was arrested in connection with a series of jewel thefts. Of course, it's a different DeStefano. I'm not sure if they're related, though. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 19:01, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's a book that has at least a section on DeStefano, telling a story of him beating on a debtor and ordering the debtor's wife and children to urinate on him. (Lindberg, Richard (May 1999). Return to the Scene of the Crime: A Guide to Infamous Places in Chicago. Cumberland House. ISBN 1581820135.) —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 19:06, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why have the facts surrounding Arthur Adler's murder been deleted across the internet? De Stefano took Adler, a nightclub owner who owed on a loan, to his basement and began his ice pick treatment on him, causing Adler to die of a heart attack. It was winter in Chicago, and Adler's body was shoved into a frozen sewer where it stayed until thaw. At that time, the sewer backed up and the sanitation workers were called. Adler's body was discovered. An AP photo of the crowd's reaction as it watched the body being removed became the AP photo of the year.70.112.7.24 (talk)

Contradiction[edit]

The following is a contradiction: "Brother Mario was then convicted of complicity in Foreman's murder and received 20-to-40 years in prison; Spilotro was acquitted. Although Mario and Spilotro were suspects in Sam's murder, no one was ever charged." The legal treatment to Mario and Spilotro should be a matter of public record, if anyone in the Chicago area can go down to the courthouse and look it up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RobRistroph (talkcontribs) 01:59, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My father, Mario De Stefano's conviction, in the murder of Leo Foreman, was reversed and he was granted a new trial. Sadly, he died in hospital before he had the opportunity to vindicate himself in a new trial. This is a matter of public record. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Settherecordstraight2008 (talkcontribs) 15:29, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Everyone at risk[edit]

There is just something really odd about it the way this was redacted and edited... 200.94.167.115 (talk) 23:35, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
