Redirect issue[edit]

The redirect Salala Ghar should be removed (and requested for deletion or a similar article about that place be created there) since it is a different place as pointed out in this article. --lTopGunl (talk) 12:29, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody has provided an external reference to show that Salala Ghar is not really the right Salala. I will revert these edits unless someone wants to point to a more reliable map than the Encarta reference. Saying that you know better because you happen to know better is not enough. Thanks, Erxnmedia (talk) 15:56, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
lTopGunl is correct. "Salala Ghar" is an entry in the US National Geospatial Intelligence Agency Geonames site. The coordinates provided are 50 km east of the incident and not even in Mohmand Agency, and thus has nothing to do with the Nov. 26 incident. Because this "Salala Ghar" site 50 km to the east has a Geonames (very popular public domain data base) entry and "Salala" (ridge, mtn.) at the incident site does not, the former gets many hits and the latter none (until this week.) So the redirect to "Salala", not "Salala Ghar" was correct.DLinth (talk) 17:11, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Have the coordinates of the incident been published? What is your published source (not necessarily Web, just some printed document) for coordinates 34°30′00″N 71°00′00″E for Salala Mountain? The references section is now empty. So far we are still in WP:OR territory -- it's true because you are saying it's true. That's not halal for Wikipedia. Thanks, Erxnmedia (talk) 20:04, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I added "approximate" and added rounded-off coordinates for the spot on Mohmand's boundary w/Afgh "40 km west of Ghallanai, Mohmand's capital" (from 100's of sources including one I just added.) It's 41 km WNW (can't be due W, as that would be 20 km inside AF.)
And @ whomever added "Chaman" and "Torkham" are on the ridge....? They're 600and 60 km away respectively. The cited source clearly didn't say that anyway, and this "source" (TrustyServant.com) is a blog site and a very obvious WP:CLONE, falling short of WP:VERIFY. Please at least look at an atlas or check geographic locations before editing. DLinth (talk) 17:26, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you're looking at an atlas, just reference the atlas, even if it doesn't have an electronic version. The names Volcano and Boulder are now being used in 2011 NATO attack in Pakistan, referring to a Guardian article. Erxnmedia (talk) 19:27, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent....You may want to add those two names here. In addition to any atlas, also see Chaman and Torkham. DLinth (talk) 22:14, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
