    • I've been working on this page this evening too - sorry if I stomped on your changes. The previous author appears to have used the history at http://www.saengertheatre.com/history.htm verbatim in writing most of this piece; I have kept the details that I found there and attempted to edit out the copyright violations. The theater was sold along with the rest of the theaters in the Saenger chain in 1929 when the Saenger chain was sold to Paramount/Publix. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rotoflex (talk • contribs)

Title[edit]

I just undid and I hope cleaned up an attempted page move that resulted in losing article history and creating orphan links. I have no strong opinion as to whether the article should be at "New Orleans Saenger Theatre", "Saenger Theatre, New Orleans", "Saenger Theatre, New Orleans", or some other variation. (In period sources, I've only seen it refered to as the "Saenger Theatre".) I do, however, feel strongly that page moves for long existing articles should be discussed on the talk page before moving. Page moves should comply with the procedure at Help:Moving a page; NEVER try to "copy and paste" what others have written to a new title. Requested move[edit]

(Result: It was moved.) It seems the name should be "Saenger Theatre (New Orleans, Louisiana)" as Saenger Theatre is only name given. Need to add (City, State) to disambiguate vs. others listed at Saenger Theatre (disambiguation). I am proposing this be moved, from current title "New Orleans Saenger Theatre". Likewise proposing similar move for Pensacola Saenger Theatre to "Saenger Theatre (Pensacola, Florida)". doncram (talk) 06:34, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What about just "Saenger Theatre (City)" for the group members, without (, State)? It's a shorter format, and all 7 cities involved are distinctively named. ENeville (talk) 21:59, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's funny, on another front I am discussing someone else's preference to use (State) rather than (City, State) form of disambiguation for U.S. NRHP sites. I think (City, State) is better for being more specific, and for not requiring updating as other sites of the same name get added to the mix, either from gaining NRHP listing or from getting articles written about them. It's actually a lot easier to develop all the NRHP listings using the (City, State) format, for use in all the disambiguation pages, the NRHP list-articles, and otherwise, in my view. About Saenger Theatres specifically, I doubt the NRHP-listed ones in the disambiguation page are all that ever existed, so more can easily come in.
